On Monday, October 9th, Deputies responded to 7581 SE 225th Drive in Hawthorne after receiving reports that multiple gunshots had been fired at the residence. Once on scene, Deputies learned that two occupants within the home were unharmed but that several rounds did pierce the exterior of the home, entering a bedroom. Crime Scene Investigators, as well as Major Crimes Detectives were called to the scene, where they began conducting an investigation. Alachua County was recently awarded the Cooperative Agreement to Benefit Homeless Individuals (CABHI) Grant by the Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services. This grant will fund services to homeless adults, youth, and families affected by serious mental illness, substance abuse or co-occurring disorders.
